From that moment it took them 12 days of driving West to cross the border to safety. They are speaking with me from Romania.

I spoke with Alexei 6 days after he and his family evacuated their homes. At 5 am, the bombing started and 10 minutes later he and his family drove through the war zone 15 hours to (relative) safety.
